unikko table 28.09.2016
Despite Marimekko founder Armi Ratia’s vehement opposition to floral patterns, Maija Isola’s Unikko (poppy) was a bold enough graphic to sneak its way into the collection in 1954.
Over 60 years later it remains Marimekko’s most instantly recognisable design and has been used on clothing , linen, accessories, towels, stationery and ceramics.
The images above are from our current display in the Marimekko room upstairs and include the new round red Unikko plates.
