Melt by Tom Dixon was created in collaboration with FRONT – a Swedish design collective. These portable lamps have an extraordinary optic effect reminiscent of molten glass, the interior of a melting glacier, or images of deep space.
A melted plastic polymer moulding is injected into a massive precision-made steel tool, inflated with compressed air and then cooled. Then, with a bang and pop, a thin strip of copper foil is vaporised into a fine mist, settling across the interior.
These lamps offer up to 10 hours of battery life with approximately 5 hours of charging time.
The base is touch dimmable with up to three light intensity settings.
