Zaha Hadid was the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize – architecture’s highest honour. Born in Baghdad, Hadid graduated in mathematics at the American University in Beirut before moving to London to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Upon graduation she worked with her former teacher Rem Koolhaas at OMA before establishing her own practice in 1980.
