Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) was born in Copenhagen, where she trained at the Danish School of Arts, Crafts and Design and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. The first woman to design for Georg Jensen, Ditzel was a highly accomplished and acclaimed designer. She received several awards during her lifetime including a gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1960, an ID prize in 1995 for her Trinidad chair design and the Danish Design Prize in 2000.
