Maija Louekari was born in Oulu, Finland in 1982. Since studying design, graphic design and interior decoration in Finland and Denmark  she has become Marimekko’s most prolific designer of the 21st century. Her Siirtolapuutarha (communal garden) and Rasymatto (rag rug) patterns have become the foundation stones for the reinvention of the Marimekko brand since 2009.
