Maija Isola (1927-2001) was a Finnish textile designer and visual artist. Isola first joined Marimekko in the 1950’s and it was immediately apparent that she had a knack for textile design. After creating over 500 prints including the beloved Unikko pattern, Isola eventually became chief designer and arguably Marimekko’s most famous and celebrated artist.
