Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber were business partners in Germany in the late 1800s. The pair took over Heidelberger Federhalter Fabrik in 1889 and reintroduced the business to the public as “Kaweco”, an abbreviation of their names: Koch, Weber and Co. In 1913, Koch and Webber went on to design the octagonal Sport pen for manufacture, an exceptionally compact and light fountain pen, whose profile is still seen represented in Kaweco pens today.
