There are eleven of these churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia – Bet Giorgis is the most stunning. 

It’s a good thing that this is in Ethiopia. If it were here we’d have OH&S regulations surrounding it with balustrading along with a public spat as to whether it should be half the height in order to preserve the view of the wall behind it.
